When you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), someone will pick you up. They’ll drive you to Moshi or Arusha. This is where you’ll spend the night before the trek. You can relax and get ready for your adventure.
Today, you’ll travel to the area near Ol Doinyo Lengai. It’s a long drive. When you get there, you’ll meet Maasai people. They’ll tell you about their traditions and why the mountain is important to them. You’ll learn about their villages and how they live. You’ll also see Lake Natron and the area around it. Then, you’ll get ready for the night climb and go to sleep early.
In the middle of the night, you’ll start climbing the volcano. It’s a hard walk in the dark. You’ll get to the top for sunrise. You’ll see amazing views of the lake and the land around it. You’ll also see the volcano’s special black lava. Then, you’ll walk back down. You’ll be tired, so you’ll rest for the rest of the day.
This morning, you’ll see Lake Natron up close. It’s a pink lake with lots of birds. You might see flamingos. You could also see the Engaresero waterfalls. Then, we will transfer you back to Moshi/Arusha or your next place.
