7 Days Lemosho Trek Itinerary

Day 0: Pre-trek Briefing

Today is all about getting ready. You’ll meet your guide and the team who will support you on your trek. We’ll go through the plan for the next week, check your gear to make sure you have everything you need, and answer any questions you might have. This briefing is key to a safe and enjoyable climb.

We start our adventure with a drive to Londorossi Gate. From there, we begin our walk through the rainforest. The trail is gentle, and you’ll be surrounded by tall trees and the sounds of the forest. We’ll reach Mti Mkubwa Camp, where we’ll spend our first night.

Today, we leave the rainforest and enter the Shira Plateau. The views start to open up, and you’ll get your first proper look at Kilimanjaro. The air is cooler as we gain altitude. We’ll camp at Shira 2 Camp, with great views.

We’ll head towards the Lava Tower, climbing to a higher altitude before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach is important for getting used to the altitude. You’ll see the impressive Barranco Wall, which we’ll tackle tomorrow.

Today, we climb the Barranco Wall. It looks challenging, but it’s a fun scramble. After that, we’ll continue to Karanga Camp. This is a shorter day, giving you time to rest and adjust.

We’re getting closer to the top! Today, we hike to Barafu Camp. This is the base camp for our summit attempt. We’ll get ready for the big climb tonight. The air is thin, and it can get quite cold.

We start our summit climb very early in the morning. We’ll aim for Stella Point and then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The sunrise views are amazing. Then, we descend to Mweka Camp for the night.

The most challenging and rewarding day of the trek! You will start the ascent around midnight, hiking through the cold, dark night to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise. After celebrating your achievement, you will descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
